About

I’m a writer at heart and a strategic communications consultant by profession.

I wrote my first letter to a public official when I was eight. So it is not surprising that I began my career on Parliament Hill in 1981. I worked for my hometown MP and two federal Cabinet Ministers for seven years before joining the staff of YMCA Canada as Director of Government Relations.

Almost thirteen years later, I left the YMCA with an indispensible collection of experiences from local, national and international assignments. For eleven years, I have been working independently as a partner to nonprofit leaders responsible for mature organizations facing adaptive challenges.

I’m also a Metcalf Innovation Fellow and a Visiting Scholar at Massey College (University of Toronto.) The Metcalf Foundation gives seasoned nonprofit leaders “the opportunity to investigate ideas, models and practices that have the potential to lead to transformational change.” My research explores the connections between vocational, organizational and civic renewal.
